Northern New England Conference may be small in the denomination in North America, but it is big in missions! A team of eighteen flew to Valledupar in northeast Colombia in May for a two-week trip. Eight nights of evangelistic meetings drew a standing room only crowd. One young man who attended said he dreamed a large group would hold meetings in that church! He was later baptized after Bible studies with the pastor. Up to ninety children had their own VBS-style program during the sermon in a separate area of the church. A small but hardworking construction crew spent hot, sweaty hours in the 104-degree heat remodeling a house into a church. Over four hundred pair of reading glasses and a Spanish “Steps to Christ” were given out and a team beautician gave seventy free haircuts. A sewing class for seventeen poor ladies was taught in a conference room in the hotel. At graduation, they received a brand-new machine and wore beautiful outfits they had made. Now they have a skill and means to help support their families. The team returned tired but happy with a job well done!
