Spirit of Prophesy points to Northern New England, the cradle of Adventism, as the fuse for the final outpouring of the Holy Spirit!
“In these cities the message of the first angel went with great power in 1842 and 1843, and now the time has come when the message of the third angel is to be proclaimed extensively in the East. There is a grand work before our Eastern sanitariums. The message is to go with power as the work closes up. Portland, Maine, a city that has been foremost in temperance reform, is to be worked without delay..” - Letter 20. 1910. Ev 389.3
"There is earnest work to be done in the eastern states. Repeat the message, repeat the message, were the words spoken to me over and over again. Tell My people to repeat the message in the places where it was first preached, and where church after church took their position for the truth, the power of God witnessing to the message in a remarkable manner." - Manuscript 29, 1909.
What does this mean?
This means New Englanders need to quickly get aligned with the conditions outlined in scripture for receiving the latter rain!
There are at least seven conditions. These are not necessarily in order.
______
1). Faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord (Acts 2:36-37, Gal 3:14).
2). Repentance of sin (Acts 2:38, Joel 2:12-13).
3). Obedience to our unique calling to preach and teach The Three Angel's Messages (Acts 5:32, Heb 2:3-4, Rev 14:6-12).
4). Submission to the Spirit's leading through the "Priesthood of all believers!" which means every member is a minister (Acts 2:17-18, 1 Peter 2:9).
5). United Prayer for the Baptism of the Spirit (Acts 1:14, 4:31).
6). Healthy Minds (Daniel 1:8, 17, Acts 2:17 1 Corinthians 2:16).
7). Brotherly love and reconciliation within the church (Acts 2:1, Ephesians 4:29-32)
______
But don't we need the Holy Spirit to accomplish the seven alignments mentioned above?
Absolutely!
This is why, since Pentecost, the church has been living under the "early rain" of the Holy Spirit.
This means we have access to all the power needed to align ourselves in preparation for the ultimate outpouring of God's Spirit (Acts 2:1).
The Bible calls this final outpouring of the Holy Spirit which happens just "before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord" the "latter rain" (Acts 2:20, Joel 2:23-24).
This is no doubt why Ellen White taught that in order for those living in the last days to receive the Latter Rain, they must be daily receiving the Early Rain.
"The latter rain, ripening earth's harvest, represents the spiritual grace that prepares the church for the coming of the Son of man. But unless the former rain has fallen, there will be no life; the green blade will not spring up. Unless the early showers have done their work, the latter rain can bring no seed to perfection...." - The Faith I live by, p. 333.3
We here in the Northern New England Conference have a simple prayer and vision...Revival in the East!
Therefore our desire is to courageously and urgently align ourselves with the above conditions!
